if i were forced to give a specific response, i see everything in Rev. prior to the Millenium (Rev 4-19) as occuring in the time leading up to AD 70, and everything after the Millenium (Rev. 20:7ff) is still to come. on the Millenium itself, i am leaning toward's JP Holding's view that that the time we are in now (obviously this requires us to not interpret it as a literal 1000 years).

Okay, that helps me with what preterists believe has already been fulfilled. However, my understanding of the "Millenium" is that it is a time of Christ ruling in a theocracy, and then Satan will be released at the end of it to again tempt those people who were born during that time.

If we are now living in the Millenium, I sure don't see a theocracy of Christ and there sure isn't peace and the wolf isn't eating grass with the lamb, etc. So, how does that fit?

And that makes sense given that sinners are still around... What prophecy fulfillment requires the world to be a better place now?

by the way. i noticed something from your first post, Moss, that bugs me about the intellectual state of North American Christianity. we shouldn't only focus on what is essential for salvation, since there is soooo much in the Bible to learn which may be less critical or more controversial. in the case of eschatology, i think the average Christian should be interested in it, if for no other reason, because the Bible is interested in eschatology.

not to single you out or anything. the sentiment you voiced is all too common in modern western Christianity.

I am very interested in eschatology, SD. In fact, I have been extremely interested in it for as long as I have been a believer, about 25 years now....... but I stay out of here mostly because I value my low BP, when I actually have it low.....

Well first off we have to see what kind of kingdom christ is ruling:

And his the lamb and the wolf are a type of reconciliation the two who were enemies are now in “fellowship” in fact the first reference was in regards to Jesus ministry “Isa 11”.



Jew and gentile, slave and free, male and female have been reconciled together.

That's what I am talking about. If we are in the millenium, (however long it is, even though a literal millenium is a thousand years) then the world SHOULD be a better place now.

Well, with out pulling all the verses (and they depend on your understanding of the text, i.e. literal, symbolic, that can change your view on these) I would say that the promise of peace and the world getting better was never the focus but rather the growing of the kingdom

what SH said. namely, the millenium reign wasn't intended reference some as-of-yet future world government. it is the Kingdom of God, which is here and now in the form of the church universal.
