A Glory Seed Devotional
Struggles… The building blocks of life…
The early verses of Hebrews Chapter 11 tells us Abel had faith, Enoch had faith, Noah had faith, Abraham had faith, Sarah had faith, Isaac had faith, Moses had faith, in addition to those the New Testament is full of people who had faith. We can even add our names to the list of those who lived lives of faith.
I don’t know about you but there are times when I get tired of struggling and think to myself it would be great to live a struggle free life. As I was looking at some of the pictures my Patti and I took while in the Smoky Mountains last week I began to realize the beauty of life is just as real in the chaos of a raging mountain stream as it is in heaven. I can say that because life’s beauty isn’t in what we see the beauty of life is in what we choose to experience.
Looking at the picture I could see the brown water churning and foaming as it flowed over the huge river rocks and as it flooded over the river banks and surrounded the plants growing on the hidden banks of the river. I thought about how picture represented the chaos and struggles of our lives at times. But then I began to sense a hidden beauty but the beauty wasn’t in what I was looking at, the beauty was in what I was experiencing, as natural as the raging river was the moment the camera forever stopped time I was experiencing the Forever God.
Scanning the picture with the “eyes of my heart” it suddenly became one of intense hope and beauty the picture had not changed. But when I began experiencing God in the raging river, as I saw you and I as the flooded plants helplessly at the mercy of something we could not control in my imagination I experienced Jesus standing in the middle of the raging river pointing at us and saying, “PEACE be STILL!” And I began feeling his strength welling up inside in spite of the struggles.
Struggles are not only whereby faith is built and strengthened – struggles are the building blocks of life and the good news is the Holy Spirit is God’s authorized Life Building Contractor and is on the job.
Believe it! Experience it!
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
