No. A better question would be:
Are there other rewards than Jesus?
~Matt
"I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."
So, in light of this truth, in Christ will we need to hunger for rewards when Jesus tells us that with Him there will be no more hunger or thirst? Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said. With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were healed. So there was great joy in that city.

cirisme:
It depends on what you are talking about. If you believe that the rewards that 1 Corinthians 3 talks about is salvation, then salvation is works based.
There are two types of rewards: one is works based, the other is not. We do not know what the rewards are that 1 Cor 3 is talking about, but at the very least, we can rest assured that it is not salvation because it is based on works. We do know, however, that Hebrews 11:6 is talking about salvation; for it is given to everyone that seeks Him, not just those whose works survive the fire.

May 6th 2003, 02:34 PM #18Seperate the issues of the reward of salvation and the reward(s) of good works, and you will clearly see. When we come to Christ is there anything else more to desire then HIM? Jesus told us we would no longer hunger or thirst (even rewards) for anything.
And I do not hunger or thirst for rewards, no one does. But I do hunger and thirst to please my Master. But I guess that makes me a heretic, huh?

Cirisme--
God's Word tell us:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
We have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing, correct? It's because the very life of Christ has been given to us. What more could we need?
and in Him you have been made complete, and (2) He is the head over allrule and authority.
Are we lacking anything (like rewards) in Christ in light of this truth? Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said. More than enough!
For salvation?Do we need to earn rewards for some reason?
Absolutely not.
And you're asking the wrong question, the question should be, "Should we do good works?"

May 6th 2003, 02:40 PM #22It also says...God's Word tell us:
Yet they both are saved regardless of whether they performed good works, or received the reward.(which would not make sense if the reward spoken of here is salvation)1Co 3:14-15 If any man's work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward. (15) If any man's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but as through fire.

May 6th 2003, 02:40 PM #23Good works. We were created for good works--Ephesians 2:10 is clear on this.[i]Today @ 07:37 PM
And you're asking the wrong question, the question should be, "Should we do good works?"
But, do we do good works to gain something, like rewards? Even in light of these truths:
and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. I can not answer for you, my answer is--"Absolutely not!"But, do we do good works to gain something, like rewards?
I do it because Christ died for me and I want to share that amazing love. Whether Christ will choose to reward me(or anyone) for that reason is entirely up to Him.

May 6th 2003, 02:45 PM #26Huh? But according to the Scriptures:[i]Today @ 07:43 PM
I do it because Christ died for me and I want to share that amazing love. Whether Christ will choose to reward me(or anyone) for that reason is entirely up to Him.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
We have already been blessed with spiritual blessing in CHRIST!
Jesus is our reward. I cannot think of anything better. Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. May 6th 2003, 02:47 PM #27So, some who will be in heaven will have Jesus and others won't?Jesus is our reward.
Is that what you're saying?1Co 3:14-15 If any man's work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward. (15) If any man's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but as through fire.

The Scriptures are clear:
and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
In Christ we are:
Complete & blessed with every spiritual blessing
What more could you want? Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. Freaky, freaky, freak...
It has nothing to do with what I want but has everything to do with what God says...What more could you want?
People will receive A reward, if their works are good. If their works are burned, but they accepted Christ, they are saved, anyway! IMO, this verse is the best verse for proving that salvation is eternal and not based on works, but you're ruining that argument by claiming that the reward is salvation.1Co 3:14-15 If any man's work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward. (15) If any man's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but as through fire.
As for this...
What if the reward is not spiritual, what if it's physical?Complete & blessed with every spiritual blessing
I don't know about you, but I'll trust in the inerrancy and wisdom of scripture, over the reasoning of man.

May 6th 2003, 03:08 PM #30I respond Freak that I was repeating what I heard for sake of discussion. I did not say I held to it, I said i was interested in the subject. So sorry, the fight you are spoiling for just isn't there.Today @ 02:13 PM post located here
Freak:
Huh?
Colossians 2:10 tells us that we are already "complete in Christ" so how can we have an increased capacity in light of this truth?
Ephesians 1:3 tells us we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing. So, in light of this truth, how do you respond?Nochyu mokraya ptitsa nikogda ne letaet.
