Re: What Are You Currently Reading?
Finished Cloud and Townsend's Boundaries in Dating. Solid book, common sense wisdom that unfortunately isn't common. Manwe's mom is proof.
I also been reviewing Greek in my intro Greek textbook by Summers, but it sucks so badly that I'm about to head over to Bill Mounce's Basics book.
Also resumed my reread of my OT textbook."Everybody wants to go to heaven. They just don't want God to be there when they get there." Paul Washer

The Ante-Nicene Fathers Vol. 3: Tertullian
The Story of Christianity by Justo Gonzalez - two volumes packaged as one as cheaply as possible (they didn't bother to re-paginate or anything). Typically West-centric; after the Cappadocian Fathers, there are a whopping 20 pages or so dedicated to the East. There is no list of works cited, because there pretty much aren't any citations - just a few quotes here and there.

Manwe, did you finish The Name of the Wind? I enjoyed it, myself. I believe the second book is out, or due out soon.
I'm currently reading Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson. I've read through book five of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. I recently bought the last three, so I'm restarting the series to get back into it. It's amazing how much background information is scattered throughout the series that can be easily overlooked.
My couples small group recently finished Discipline of Grace by Jerry Bridges. We really liked it and have opted to read another of his books, The Gospel for Real Life. Next on our list, I think, is Respectable Sins, also by him. This is not a song. It's a sandwich.

I will say this for it, it has nice pictures.

Btw, do you know what Jenkins' view of Scripture is? I know he thinks the Bible is more violent than the Quran, but I don't know more than that about him....the compass of existence held more than my text-books had revealed, more than I had ever dreamed of. Re: What Are You Currently Reading?
I recently finished reading the twentieth volume of The Collected Works of G. K. Chesterton, which included a number of works like Christendom in Dublin, Irish Impressions, The New Jerusalem, and A Short History of England. Given the topics, I was surprised at how many real gems there were in it.
"Wherever men are still theological there is still some chance of their being logical." (20.177)Now I'm back to focusing my attention on Plantinga's Warrant: The Current Debate."If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"--Augustine of Hippo
"It cannot be that the people should grow in grace unless they give themselves to reading. A reading people will always be a knowing people."--John Wesley

Re: What Are You Currently Reading?
Same with my textbook for church history, Earl Cairns Christianity Throughout the Centuries. Had maybe a footnote or two per chapter from a source dating from the early 1900s, which might not be bad because I don't know how frequently the basic church history field gets updated. But I never figured out where he got 98% of his info from.

Re: What Are You Currently Reading?
JB happened to stumble upon one of the world's largest underground book rigs, making him the most textual richest people in the world. How he discovered happened when one day his copy of Phil Schaffer's ancient church history 10-set volumes died of old age and too much usage, so he went to bury it in his back yard, but upon digging it a bunch of books shot upward about 200 feet in the air. Thus he has had an eternal supply of reading material ever since then, and hired guards with AK-47s to guard it, especially against JWs who knock on his door.

The second book, The Wise Man's Fear, was released the beginning of this month, but I'm holding off on buying it until I can find a paperback version (I have no earthly idea why those are so rare, but I prefer it to be paperback because the I got the first book in paperback. Makes a matching set...). Patrick Rothfuss is certainly no Second Coming of Tolkien as some reviews have made him out to be, but I had a true blast reading TNOTW.
Anyway, Til We Have Faces is an awesome story. I'm about 2/3rds done with it already. I have gleaned many a Christian theme here and there and reading Surprised by Joy immediately prior was a very lucky event because Joy, as Lewis defined it, has popped up on at least one occasion and I would have missed it unless I had read SBJ.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'
The Words of Húrin and Morgoth, "The Children of Húrin" by J.R.R. Tolkien
