Votes by county and the ignorant "red states"
I took this map from Sean Hannity's website.
In consideration of the criticism launched against the "Red States" from people voting for Kerry in the "Blue States," I believe this map is very telling. When looking at California, most of the counties voting for Kerry are counties containing major universities along the coast. California is constituted of forty-eight counties, ten of which contain 75% of California's total population. Of those ten counties, only Kern county voted for Bush, and of those ten counties, only Kern county is non-coastal and contains no major university. Similarly, most of the Kerry counties around the country are coastal, along the ocean sea boards, or the Mississippi.
These Kerry Blue counties have their own special needs and interests, and their needs are not the same as those in the countryside. It is arrogant to assume that the best interests of the blue counties are the best interests for the red counties. Likewise, it is foolish of those in the red counties to demand a homogeneity of value with the blue counties. Port towns and university towns have different populations with different interests.
The Unites States is dependent upon the input from all the people within its borders. To deride those whose needs are different based upon that difference is bigotry.

Someone posted this map at another board. I think its the best map regarding voting, counties, and actually having a purpose that truly defines the voting trends of the country.

Oh!!! And this map too. More for entertainment than anything else. The story isn't quite as simple as it looks.

Thanks for the first map, Jimmy. The equivocation in the second set is amusing in its own condescending way. I mean, why didn't Kerry just say that a vote for Bush is a vote for Jefferson Davis?

Because Bush already spoke out on the Dred Scott issue.

Since Iowa went Bush (I heard, correct me if I'm wrong) we seem to have gained a little ground in the slavin' terrytorys.
