GYM DEBATE COMMENTARY: Hume's miracle arguments (skepticbud vs. jpholding)

A Gym debate thread is opened to debate the following issue:

David Hume's arguments against miracles neither encourage belief in the unreasonable or the outrageous, nor should be regarded as knavery or folly

Skepticbud will be defending the affirmative and jpholding will be defending the negative. This debate will begin as soon as skepticbud makes his first post. The debate will last 5 rounds with up to 10 days between posts.

This debate is taking place here, and this thread is opened for the commentary on the debate.

If there is anything I’ve learned from both conservatives and liberals, it’s that we can have all the “right” answers and still be mean. And when you’re mean, it’s hard for people to listen to, much less desire, your truth.

Romans 1:20 "Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe." - NKJV

Would another mod please stick this thread? I'm powerless in this forum!

I've stuck the thread, A R, albeit very late!

I see the debate didn't really stick to Hume's argument, which is a shame. I was interested to see how a debate like that might have gone.

At the very first insult, i stopped reading. The desire is to learn from intelligent people debating and not to read pro wrestling. It is a shame, had such high expectations. My mistake, not the first and not the last.

    6. The following tWebber says Amen to phase for this useful Post:

If anyone does want to have a debate on Hume's argument against miracles, I am game.
