Satellite dishes - with or without whine?
Hi!
Since there doesn't seem to be a Shop and the computer guys are still laughing at me from last time - anyone know what the difference is between the dish you buy at Rat Shack (yeah, I know - so I'm old) and the one you lease from the company? Any advantage to buying? Anyone got a clue as to what I'm talking about? (If so, can you explain it to me?
)
Thanks!

Hi, Teallaura,
Hey, you keep saying that you want to ask stupid questions ... well, I've seen the questions, but where's the stupidity?
If you're looking at sattelite TV, you'll probably do better with one of the deals from the company, rather than going to RS. The Shack's kind of expensive, and both DirecTV and Dish Network are so desperate for business that they'll bend themseves about in two to get a new customer. We got a great deal and were about to go for it, but our local cable company also came into the neighborhood, so I could get cable internet! :YAY!:

Was Galaxy - we parted company. No provider at present - which means no TV where I live. Nope, rabbit ears do not help.

I'd have already gotten Dish but they want a credit card - been there, done that, trying to get rid of the lousy t-shirt! Would rather just give them money - but it seems to be an alien concept...
Thanks again!

Time/Warner North Carolina. Hey, it ain't a T-1, but it'll do, especially since I seem to be the only internet customer in this particular area. Acres and acres of bandwidth, and ALL OF IT MINE!

iirc Time/warner has 6Mb/1.5Mb bandwidth. compared to 1.5Mb (T1) you shouldnt be complaining too much

I don't remember the figures--those sound about right--but the results are certainly tasty!

I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

Okay, besides expense and red or white (could I combine them and make a pink? It would go nicely with the table setting!) any other differences that I should know about? Thanks!
