Where was Adam when Eve first ate the fruit?

Prolly off somewhere soopin' up his chariot.
If I have a mystical experience, an experience that's so overwhelming that I know now that there's a God, the cognitive fallout from that is irrelevant. The fact that that experience can be explained by psychologists in numerous ways is irrelevant to the fact that I now know.

Joan, I know your question was serious and I'm sorry for playin' but I don't think we know where he was at the time Eve ate of the fruit.

I know you are kidding, but if anyone has any thoughts, I wouldn't mind hearing them.

Re: Where was Adam?
Well, honestly, he could have been anywhere. I know XMM was joking, but maybe he really was working on some cool project, or out for a walk, or something - after all, we were made to be creative.
I mean, they weren't instructed to stay together 24-7, were they? How big was the garden? Surely there was enough room for them to 'get away from each other' sometimes! Not only that, but even if they were rarely apart from each other, doesn't it make sense that the wily serpent would wait for that moment?

He could have still been sleeping, too, and Eve woke up early. I think it is one of those things that is impossible to deduce.

Yeah, me too. Why, Joan, does it matter?

Standing there like a dork. Remember, Eve only turned to Adam - she didn't have to track him down. He just didn't say anything while his wife was talking to the snake - isn't that just like a man? Let the wife do all the talking in uncomfortable social situations ('honey, I don't know what to say - I've never talked to a snake before'....

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (Genesis 3:6 KJV)

This verse seems to infer that the two were together at the tree.
Verse 7 goes on to say "And the eyes of them both were opened," seeming to insinuate that it was an instant and simultaneous event.
About the same as today, the guy was right there with his woman being the 'dunce'!Fundi-minister!!!!! Under-educated and proud!!!!! bless your heart!!!!!

Yep, as already pointed out, he was standing right there with her.

Re: Where was Adam?
Yeah, i was going to say the text reads as if he is there and just going uh huh. I think that is why Paul says that Eve was decevied, but Adam sinned, though it is often misread as a slam on Eve it is even bigger a slam on Adam. IN fact notice in Romans 5 that death came through the act of hte man, not Eve, so he was standing there, and even though God had told him what to do he allowed (maybe even mistaught) Eve the mularky about not touching the tree...thus twisting God's words. So he is the ultimate Homer, which is pretty much a good picture of guys.

Re: Where was Adam?
It is also interesting to note that the instructions God gave about not eating the fruit were given to Adam BEFORE Eve was created! Genesis 2:
We don't know if the instructions were repeated with Eve present, but it may indicate that Adam was responsible to keep Eve from getting into trouble.15Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.
16The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely;
17but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die."
18Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."
19Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.
20The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him.
21So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
22The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.
Let's face it. Both sinned, both bear some responsibility, and both bear the consequences.
And if I had been there, I would have also sinned.

Re: Where was Adam?
As someone already pointed out, I believe Adam was standing right by her side - he was "with her"
Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Here's another point.
Genesis 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
God gave the command to Adam before Eve was created. I've encountered someone who once said that Adam never told Eve, but that can't be true as she had knowledge of what God said in Genesis 3.
Genesis 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
It is interesting to point out that of the knowledge of God's command that she iterated in verses 2 and 3, that she made three mistakes: REMOVED the word "freely," ADDED "neither shall ye touch it," and WATERED DOWN "surely die" to "lest ye die."
God's plan of authority was God --> Man --> Woman. Adam was present but did nothing to correct Eve, or stop her, etc.
