Re: Bi-Polar Disorder
Man this is depressing! I've been perusing the boards. And except for a very small handful, I've forgotten many of the TWebbers. In many, many cases I remember the users names but nothing else. It's like a named file folder that stands empty but their used to be files in it. This is like joining for the first time--all over again.

And I wish that smiley over there -----> on the reply page would stop laughing at me.

This is going to take longer than I thought to get back into the swing of things.

Re: Bi-Polar Disorder
Welcome back, Jade and BV. I've pretty much only interacted with BV, so probably don't remember much about me, Jade.

Re: Bi-Polar Disorder
I feel like my head is full of file folders and the files have been lost. I remember your usernames, the fact we were friends, but the things we discussed and even personality in many cases are gone.

Re: Bi-Polar Disorder
I'm schizo-affective, which is a disorder that combines features of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
I don't know that I have specific strategies to suggest, other than perhaps, trust yourself, and when you can't trust yourself, trust those who know you best.
It's been remarked that having a mental illness is traumatic, much as any other traumatic experience, from a rape to losing one's arm. Like any trauma, there are common reactions, as well as a common pattern of recovery (usually), in which over time, the person learns to integrate their new experience into who they are, and find ways to cope with the mundane practical matters of day to day coping. I was diagnosed with a mental illness 20 years ago, and four years ago, I lost nine of my ten fingers as a result of a suicide attempt. At the time I was convalescing after my fingers were lost, people remarked about how well I was coping. Perhaps part of that is that I am indeed strong, or have become strong over the years because of what I had to deal with. But I also think that part of it was that coping with trauma was not something new to me. I'd been there before.
Be patient. The answers will come.I have bad reflexes. I was once run over by a car being pushed by two guys.

And here I thought we were hearing from Jade again.
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)
