worst movies of 2004
Cast yer vote!
mine are:
The Hulk
Alien vs predator
Two of the worst movies I had the misfortune to see in the year 2004. Disappointment at the wasted use of lisense for these horribly written and directed movies.
Honorable mentions:
House of the Dead. I think they spent the bulk of their budget on the bullet time slow mo battle sequence, because besides that part, the whole movie stunk completely.
A Day without a Mexican. This movie was advertised as a comedy. Barring one or two comedic scenes, the majority of the film was political propoganda. Can you say FALSE ADVERTISEMENT? or BAIT AND SWITCH?.
Along Came Polly: The funniest scenes were already shown in most the comemrcials, the rest was a horrible love story.
YOur turn, what is the movies you were dissappointed with, and kinda wish you never wasted 10 bucks on?The rambler of ramblers!

Re: worst movies of 2004
Collateral disappointed me.
Other than that, I didn't see a lot of movies I didn't at least tolerateI may not yet be as old as dirt, but dirt and I are starting to have an awful lot in common... Stephen Donaldson - Author of my favorite series (The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant)

Re: worst movies of 2004
I think that Saw can find its way onto the list.
And of course, who could forget (or remember as the case may be), The Chronicles of RiddickBe sure to check out Striped Theology, my TheoBlog.

Yeah Chronicles was cheesy dumb.

I agree with those who mentioned Hulk, although it was 2003. That one sucked pretty badly.
Cellular was extremely disappointing.
The Grudge was alright, but not nearly as good as I had hoped.
Open Water was considerably less than interesting.
The Dawn of the Dead remake pales next to the 1978 original.
... but ...
I strongly disagree about AvP. I found it a lot more interesting that any of the Alien or Predator movies by themselves. The story was a little reminiscent of Stargate, but was still interesting, and the movie fleshed out the Predators a whole lot more than the original films, subtly changing their character in the process, and painted them more as something akin to Klingons and the like, rather than just indiscriminate killing machines.
Similarly, I disagree about Chronicles of Riddick, though not quite as strongly. I found the storyline quite interesting (although I can admittedly see why some, particularly Christians, might find it less so, as the whole theme seems to be a scathing commentary on Christianity, or at least on evangelical religion in general). What hurts the movie is having the day saved by a superpowered, practically invincible anti-hero, because that is extremely cliche (as anyone who's seen a Steven Seagal movie can attest).Last edited by Eyeheart Pumpkin; February 8th 2005 at 03:07 AM.

The Grudge was the most Disappointing.
And I'm telling you, "Darkness" was the worst. You don't know because you didn't see it - - and you are lucky.
Here's hoping this year is not a letdown!

Re: worst movies of 2004
I saw some bloody foreign snuff film with sub-titles this year. Really a sick movie. I'm glad it was a work of fiction. The acting was bad and had a cast of unknowns. The Aviator will be a runaway at the Oscars.

Re: worst movies of 2004
Hm. 7 out of 10 hollywood films showed egregious amounts of violence for entertainment. So far as I know, only one movie showed the hideousness of barbarism, where an innocent man stood as a living testimony to the horror of hate and violence.

Re: worst movies of 2004
Isn't that kind of an oxymoron? I don't know, maybe the definition of "snuff films" has changed in recent years, but I've always known it to refer specifically to films that show actual killings and scenes of death, which is why they're illegal in many places. Unless that has changed, then a work of fiction wouldn't be considered a "snuff film."
