Anyone else missing the NHL?
I was occupied during football season, and got a few months til baseball really begins, and basketball just doesn't satisfy. I blame the players for this more than owners (or acually players union head). But good news is I'm going to watch Phantoms play AHL hockey next week

Yeah.... I'm missing just having something random to watch on the weekdays... I never got around to picking a team to follow.
I also place most of the blame on the player's union.Be sure to check out Striped Theology, my TheoBlog.

Re: Anyone else missing the NHL?
I had my Flyers, and the NHl had free wemcasts, so I could listen to the games while doing homework. Games weren't something I'd make a schedule to see, but I enjoy catching ti when it's on

Yes, but we have a minor league team in town so it doesn't hurt as much. I have tickets for Sat.

The NHL season is expected to be "un-canceled" Saturday in New York.

Re: Anyone else missing the NHL?
Actually, we're enjoying the movies they show now on CBC instead of hockey on Saturday night. But it doesn't seem right that Hockey Night in Canada isn't on.
I heard on the CBC news, a person said that the Stanley cup was to go to the highest hockey team in Canada, and now they are saying that is should probably be awarded to maybe one of the provincial teams or something? I would like to see something like that. The Ontario hockey teams are seeing more turn out, and if the best of Ontario and other provinces played each other, than one of them should get the Stanley cup, I should think!"Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion.

taken up in glory."

Re: Anyone else missing the NHL?
Saw Wayne Gretzky whining about the NHL predicament. It was very ironic, considering he started the unaffordable escalation in players' salaries in the first place.

Is there still hope? I miss going to a few games each season.

Re: Anyone else missing the NHL?
A lot of people say that the movie night is actually not too bad, assuming a decent supply of movies can be kept up.

As I write this, meetings are going on that may (or may not) cause the un-cancellation of the season.
I've heard that too. Apparently the original intent was to give the Cup to the best hockey team, not the best NHL hockey team.I heard on the CBC news, a person said that the Stanley cup was to go to the highest hockey team in Canada, and now they are saying that is should probably be awarded to maybe one of the provincial teams or something? Since 1926 only NHL teams have competed, and since 1946 the NHL has held exclusive control. That means no NHL, no Cup, the first time since the influenza epidemic of 1919 (when Montreal and Seattle would have tangled).
We shall see.
Abused, abandoned and neglected at various times; no matter, still one of the most revered trophies in sports.

Re: Anyone else missing the NHL?
It is, in my opinion the best trophy, with the legacy behind it, the names of all the winners, the history. of any sports trophies it is by far the one i would make a trip to go see.
