I would personally recommend abstaining from it (although I am aware you didn't ask). Other than as a potential painkiller, I do not see any positive coming out of consuming it.

My personal preference is Jim Beam Black, as far as cheap stuff. As far as expensive stuff...I haven't tried enough to decide, yet. Though after reading about Pappy Van Winkle, I'd really like to get my hands on some. Probably won't happen for quite some time.

I really need to buy another bottle of Black Velvet Toasted Caramel... in the meantime, I've got a bottle of Wiser's Deluxe that's quite tasty. I'm getting used to drinking whiskey "On the Rocks," as I've only ever consumed harder liquors mixed with pop or soda water. It's delicious and fascinating at the same time.

Recently had a bottle of cask-strength Bruichladdich Octomore. Woah, that was strong stuff (114 proff), and at 167 ppm, there was some serious peat going on too.

I may be experiencing a change of mind on this after all. Nom.

It's pretty amazing. Try the Black Label if you haven't, though. Bolder flavor with less bite.

I recently tried some Woodford Reserve. I can recommend it pretty highly.

I have a bottle of Jacob's Ghost which I'm enjoying.

I've also been trying various varieties of Johnny Walker. So far, I think I like their black label the best (though I can't afford the blue label at the moment).

Back in the late 90s or so a co-worker got a bottle of JW Blue as a Christmas present. He didn't drink and asked me if it was expensive.

When he found out he was shocked since this was merely a casual acquaintance.
