Sparko, the camp gay people were put in during WW2 was Auschwitz.
Thousands of Catholic priests and Christian pastors were forced into concentration camps. A special barracks was set up at Dachau, the camp near Munich, Germany, for clergymen. A few survived; some were executed, but most were allowed to die slowly of starvation or disease.
Marriages between African-Americans in the US were recognized in ~1866 by ex-slavery states, with the others having recognized them since the beginning. One a hundred and thirty years later, zero US states recognized marriages between gay people.
Laws preventing racial minorities for having sex with each other are unprecedented, but until recently in most countries in the world gay people would be jailed for having sex with each other.
In many countries, gay people face censorship, job loss, and the possibility of violent reprisal, for simply admitting to being gay.
The spoiled brats would be Christians in a majority Christian nation wailing at how they are getting persecuted for being Christians by other Christians. Ironically that is the exact original reason for this thread. That's what

Being gay is a BEHAVIOR. Having black skin is just the way some people are. They can't hide being black, or brown, or red. It's with them for the world to see 24/7 - on the other hand gays are not recognized as gay unless they reveal their behavior and "come out"
Gays don't have an entire society set up to make them second class citizens, there are no separate drinking fountains, bathrooms, restaurants, etc for gays.
Gays have been accepted and even celebrated over the last 50 years. You have gay fashion designers, gay celebrities, gay parties, etc. and people say "oh how wonderful!"
The way gays are treated today is NOTHING like the way blacks were treated before the civil rights movement.

This has not entirely prevented zealous anti-gay police from trying to enforce sodomy laws in the present day.
All English speaking western nations had laws against gay men having sex until 50 years ago or less. I've seen the number of people in the UK arrested for gay sex over the last 150 years estimated at 49,000.
Because marriage has always been between a man and a woman.
The worldwide spread of Islam and Christianity suppressed all occurrences of same-sex marriage in cultures where it was previously practiced.Last edited by Starlight; 01-16-2015, 05:27 PM."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

Caligula married his horse, didn't he? Or was it just a senator while he married his sister?
I'm thinking 'exception that proves the rule' is probably not your best option to refute the point..."He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot

Would have been funnier if he'd married the horse, though."He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot

Plenty of cultures in history have had same-sex marriages. Examples include Siwa, 10 of the 21 African tribes listed here, and the Roman Empire.
