Cookie Monster develops Adult-Onset diabetes
UH OH!
[attachment=1]
It's the end of an era
But Cookie Monster is NOT about moderation. He's about wanton excess! How about, instead of using him as a positive role model, we use him as a negative role model? At the end of each episode he could go into a coma from insulin shock! That way you don't have to rewrite a classic character!
Shucks . . .

I no have problem. I no need intervension. Why not let Cookie Monster live own lifestyle?

Please don't make fun of Oscar's seasonal affective disorder

Re: Cookie Monster develops Adult-Onset diabetes
Sort of on-topic: I have a friend who, up until a short time ago, swore up and down that Ernie had contracted leukemia and died. My kids watch Sesame Street, so I knew whatever he was thinking was wrong.
I still don't know where he got that idea from.GONE FOR GOOD BECAUSE THE MODS ARE FRICKIN' RETARDS

Re: Cookie Monster develops Adult-Onset diabetes
That is bizarre. I did a quick research and found out that rumors of Bert and Ernie's demise have been circulating for 15 years or so.Sort of on-topic: I have a friend who, up until a short time ago, swore up and down that Ernie had contracted leukemia and died. My kids watch Sesame Street, so I knew whatever he was thinking was wrong.
Snopes Urban Legends Reference Pages
"Though there weren't any real reasons for them... rumors about
Ernie's imminent death spread. Everyone heard a different version of
how Ernie was going to die, and the stories always fell into one of
two categories: death by disease or death by traffic accident. In the
disease category, cancer, AIDS, and leukemia were the front runners.
Traffic accident deaths included pedestrian Ernie being hit by a bus,
truck, or car; or his being a passenger in a vehicle involved in a
fatal crash.
Though most of the whispers named Ernie as the Muppet marked for death
(the late Jim Henson had been Ernie's voice, after all), Bert also
came in for mention. In addition to rumors about Bert being the one
who'd be done away with (by the same methods ascribed to Ernie),
stories also circulated that the man who voiced Bert had either been
killed in a car crash or had died of AIDS."

Re: Cookie Monster develops Adult-Onset diabetes
There is precedent for this change.
Consider the following.
TOP 5 CHANGES TO SESAME STREET CHARACTERS IN PAST 50 YEARS:
1: Big Bird given a comical bird face instead of wearing black face.
2: Cookie Monster started eating cookies instead of chain smoking Luckys.
3: Burt and Ernie now shower together.
4: Oscar the Grouch's 'Playmate of the Week' segment dropped.
5: The Count no longer gives tips on card counting for playing black jack.

Also, the Count stopped killing and dismembering transients for their blood.

I heard the Cookie Monster was gay anyway. It's all part of the left wing homosexual agenda.

You're thinking Bert and Ernie.

If they think Cookie Monster is sending a negative message just retire him and replace him with a character that would negate the image (The production of new puppets didn't end with the death of Jim Henson, did it?). I'm probably going to have to watch it with my kids on days off (assuming they still show it Saturdays and/or my days off are on weekdays), and they probably won't be able to enjoy it for the first dozen or so episodes because I'll be griping about how they ruined it since I was a kid, with the rants being even louder if they ruin Cookie Monster.
It's bad enough I had to watch it with a niece a few years ago and they didn't have the guys who communicated by honking their noses. They may still be there, but when I was little they were on every day.
I also didn't see Linda. Did she leave the show, or did they drop her? Fortunately Maria was still there the last I saw. I use to have a bit of a crush on her, even when I was naive enough to think that the difference between male and female was the length of their hair (don't ask. I was so sheltered that up until I was eight I believed that if a person had long hair they were a woman. If they had short they were a man).I am a firm believer in gun control. As a matter of fact, I'm on the range every chance I get to improve my ability to control my gun.
