Ex-ATheist? What Turned You Around?
I warned ... er ... promised I would start this thread in another one. I was really struck by the wonderful article from Ex-Athiest.com on T-Web's Headline page. Perhaps some of you skeptics out there will want to read it before responding to this thread! I'd love to know if it made a difference to any of you.
The topic here is how many of you out there went from outright athiest to devoted disciple - even if you didn't choose Christianity. I'm stating right up front that I don't want to see any battles of condemnation and judgement here...just testimonies of awakening...just sharing.
I'll go first. I always said "I don't believe in God, but I believe there's something holding the universe together and giving it order." Guess that made me agnostic? I'm really bad with labels and not real fond of them as some of you know from my other posts. I've also said in other posts that I became a believer when God was good enough to speak directly to me in the still, small voice so undeniably I was converted on the spot.
Anyone ready to dip a toe in this water...or go straight for the high dive?

If anyone has an atheist/agnostic -> Christian testimony they'd like to post on a website, I'm collecting them, so to speak.

Undomiel: I goofed. The title should be Ex Athiest, as becomes obvious in my first post. Guess I need an administrator to change that. Will that happen magically or do I need to do something.
me quickly somebody, before the Ex Theists show up in force!!!!
Slightly embarrassed,

Apparently there's a time limit on how long the edit function will work (about 24 hours from initial posting I think). After that, you have to contact an administrator: postmaster@theologyweb.com
As for your question, I don't ever remember being an atheist, though some sticklers might claim that I still am, by default, since I don't share their doctrine 100% (and therefore must be hanging on to some denial of the "true Gospel"). Fortunately, I've not encountered any of those attitudes here at TheologyWeb. I was reared in the light of Christianity, and confirmed my faith when I was 16. I find myself questioning, challenging and doubting myself all the time with regard to the specifics of God's nature, plan and the relationship between Him and us/me. But I've never doubted His existence, except to imagine what that must be like.

You can change it now, Jardin. Just change the information in the Subject box.

Title is fixed Jardin.
If I have a mystical experience, an experience that's so overwhelming that I know now that there's a God, the cognitive fallout from that is irrelevant. The fact that that experience can be explained by psychologists in numerous ways is irrelevant to the fact that I now know.
