Daniel 12 and Olivet Discourse question
Hi. I just have a quick question. Can revelation be the destruction of Jerusalem in the first century without the "resurrection" occurring in chapts 11 and 20? Doesn't the Day of the Lord coincide with the raising of the dead as in Daniel 12? If not, why not. It would appear everything is finished after the "Day of Christ". Thanks.Daniel 12:1 "At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands [watch] over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, [Even] to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame [and] everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.
2 thess 2: 2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming/presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for [that Day will not come] unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
2 titus 2:17 And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 18 who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

Re: Daniel 12 and Olivet Discourse question
Hi. Wouldn't Daniel 12 be the 6th seal and white throne judgement in revelaiton on Jacob's sons and Daniel's people? If it is that 1st century event, how did the resurrection of the "2 witnesses" and the 1st resurrection in chapt 19 go unoticed?
Sure looks like it parallels Isaiah 28, providing revelation is an "inspired" book. How would Israel's "covenant with death" be annulled in vs 18? Blessings.
Daniel 12:1 "At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands [watch] over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, [Even] to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book.
Isaiah 28:14 Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, Who rule this people who [are] in Jerusalem, 15 Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, It will not come to us, For we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves." 16 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. 17 Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The HAIL will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place. 18 Your covenant with death will be annulled, And your agreement with Sheol will not stand; When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it.
Reve 16:20 Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And great HAIL from heaven fell upon men, [each hailstone] about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.
Reve 6:14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 "For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"
Reve 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.Last edited by InChristAlways; May 31st 2005 at 12:55 PM.
