Congress to Repeal 22nd Ammendment
The following Resolution is floating around in DC. It disturbs me very much.
Thanks to the FTL forums for the information and http://thomas.loc.gov/ for the verification.

Re: Congress to Repeal 22nd Ammendment
For those who don't know what the 22nd amendment is:
The 22nd Amendment
Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
Section. 2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

Pretty much. Yoshiyahu, I know you're not terribly fond of Bush (understatement of the week there, perhaps?

Who are the people that are proposing this and why are they proposing it?

Re: Congress to Repeal 22nd Ammendment
Yeah, who's the one doing the proposing? That has been conspicuously absent. Don't tell me this is another example of something like when the Democrats started going on the news and talking about how the Republicans were going to lead us into a new military draft..... when the only ones proposing the draft in Congress were Democrats!
Regardless of who's proposing it, I agree... never happen. Nor should it. As a Republican, I would oppose such a resolution, even if it would benefit my party in the short run. Thanks for your patience in the thread's I have previously committed myself to. Things are still difficult and topsy-turvy here, and I may actually start work somewhere this week (strong likelihood), so I'll do my best to answer some of those threads! See you in the forums...

Re: Congress to Repeal 22nd Ammendment
You give the names, but you still dont' want to admit the party of the person sponsoring it?
Democrat.
Hoyer
Berman
Pallone
Sabo
and one single Republican shill -- Sensenbrenner.
Just like the draft garbage. They create their own crisis, get people stirred up that this could happen, and the public immediately thinks that this is about getting Bush re-elected, and all the while leaving out the fact that this is a Democrat initiative. They have no intention of going through with this, any more than they did with the draft proposal. They wanted people to be afraid that the Republicans would start a draft. So they create their own bill to do that, leave out who sponsored it, and watch the public assume the exact opposite. Then, they can later pull the bill after they get some political capital out of it. But what sticks in everyone's minds is that the Republicans are the administration running this war, and the draft was proposed.
And it's the Repubs in the White House, and now there's a bill to do away with the 22nd amendment. Those darn corrupt conservatives! :riahem:

I was quick to snap at him, you're right.
But we did ask that question, he didn't answer the question. I'm sorry I was snippy, though.

You can't repeal an amendment with a bill, anyway. You would need an entirely new amendment.

You just wizzed in the wrong bowl of cornflakes, moron. Were you so eager to win the argument that you don't care who you trample over on your way to victory lane? I didn't give the party affiliations because I was giving the Democrats on this forum a chance to see their own error. At that point, they could apologize honorably, or continue to stick their foot into their mouth.
