Giant catfish found
Whoa this thing is huge.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...ish/index.html"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: Giant catfish found
I'm wondering how exactly they caught that thing. Did they use a net? Did they use rod and reel? And what type of bait? Did they use fat gerbils or hamsters or some such thing?

Re: Giant catfish found
Look at the other pictures. seems like they already had it in captivity and it died. It is a former catfish. It is no more.
edit: oops. I was wrong. says:
Caught last month (May 1) in the Mekong River, a team of fishermen struggled for more than an hour to haul the creature in. It tipped the scales at 646 pounds (293 kilograms).

Oh boy.... You quoted Monty Python before I did... Well! I never wanted to be a Tweb member posting here in the first place. I wanted to be... A LUMBERJACK! Leaping from tree to tree as they float down the mighty rivers of British Columbia! The Fir! The Larch! The Redwood! The mighty Scots Pine! The plucky little Aspen! The great limping rude tree of Nigeria! The smell of fresh-cut timber! The crash of mighty trees! With my best gal by my side, we'd sing, sing, SING...

Boggling.
I'm still trying to get my mind around the size of the lemon needed. I wouldn't want to handle that piece of citrus with a paper cut of any description.

Meanwhile back in the States...
From the AP, Alton, Illionois, one Tim Pruitt quite recently caught a 58 in. long, 44 inches around blue channel cat of 124 pounds...rod & reel, Mississippi River.
I am a bit in mourning because from my part o' the world came the current champion at 121 lbs., 8 oz. -pulled out of Lake Texoma...(and that's not a Texan-style exaggeration either !)
Oh, so close ! Aw, fishsticks !!
In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion." (Pastor Greg Boyd.)
