It's not destroyed, it's just non-functional. If you insist that it still be working, then she blew her nose into it and now it's covered in horrible gunk that won't wash off, making it a revolting exercise to try and use the thing. Is that better?

Granted, but they don't stop washing even after they're clean, so water keeps flowing and flowing until eventually the pipes burst and the entire house gets flooded, and the dishes keep washing themselves, so water continues to flow, and everything gets swept away until it reaches the local dump, and the dishes float to into the trash pile and get covered by garbage--and then the water stops.
