                      Evidently. ?. On the bright side, they are paying more in legal costs than my unemployment would have been...

                            It's a gamble - they don't know how hard somebody will fight, so they start off assuming they can say no, and you'll just go away. MANY people will.

                              do you have a lawyer? Maybe if you sued you would not only get the unemployment but a judgment for a nice amount. Most lawyers will work on contingency if there is any money to be make in a settlement or suit.

                                And you would probably have to pay all his costs as well...found this out with my dad and some lawyer firm regarding a settlement. But that was a class action so that may be different.
