Want to argue about politics? Healthcare reform? Taxes? Governments? You've come to the right place!

Try to keep it civil though. The rules still apply here.

There, there. It comes with experience.

If it wasn't serious that's cool too. I am not the Libertarian answer box but I would enjoy speaking with you because we already share common ground. Though I am aware the differences are profound. Contrary to some conceptions libertarians are not merely Republicans who want to legalize pot and get the government out of marriage.

Paprika ouch.... That hurt. Coupled with your reluctance to grant me extra crazy status. Does the fact that today I was engaged in a discussion over whether the NAP allows you to throw someone off our balcony count as crazy (btw, no, it doesn't).
It was more of a semi-serious comment. I know there are a lot of libertarians that are pretty close to being liberal, and some that are conservative. It seems to cover a whole range of the political spectrum.

I think that is overstating the case. That is like pointing out that some progressive are outright socialists and some conservatives would be extreme theonomists. I would argue that libertarianism and even most left or right ones would agree that neither of those sides are required for membership in Club Libertarian. If you look at any decent political quiz, there isn't ANY position that has a single plot point, where you go THERE, THAT is a conservative. It is a spectrum. The better question is what are those distinctives that push (to use the quiz example again) the metric to say, ahh, you fall in the libertarian quadrant.

And it seems you are only talking about social issues, because politically the vast majority of libertarians are fiscally more conservative than any "conservative." I say vast majority other than most because the fringe (and we all have our fringes) on the left side would argue for certain public programs, but the difference is that they would be voluntarily funded, thus.

Also when speaking of the "left libertarians"-- most of them are anarchists, which while yes while they are called libertarian, I think that is outside the realm of our discussion which is participation in American politics. At least that is my realm.

And the word "liberal" today is misleading. Most libertarians are classically liberal. Very very few would be even remotely progressive. Again we have our fringes.

The State. Ideas so good they have to be mandatory.

I understand. While I am a conservative, I don't consider myself a right-wing nutjob that just follows the party line. On some issues I am a lot more liberal than republicans. Overall, I am just a bit right of "centrist" when I did your political test (the one that gives you a diamond shaped chart at the end) - and more on the libertarian level than the statist level.
