Little Rock Family Planning clinic director Jerry Edwards argues that if the women don’t abort their children right away, they could be facing more hazardous partial-birth abortions later. “If we didn’t provide it now, they would get it later – a late-term abortion that would give greater risk to the mother’s health,” he claimed, as reported by the Denton Record-Chronicle.

There are monkeys that are smarter than babies. Does that make the monkeys human or does it make the babies monkeys?

Their DNA and the ability to go through stages of human development. And with all due respect, I've had this discussion several times already and have no wish to go through it again. It always goes the exact same way: the pro-choicer picks an arbitrary feature (usually the brain) and postulates that a creature needs it to be considered human and the conversations consists of my opponent dancing around the fact that he/she is forced to admit one of two things:

A) Your brain isn't so special until you become older and thus is irrelevant to the issue of abortion.
B) You support killing born babies

Arbitrary? What criteria do you use to justify your stance on abortion then?

As for your two admissions, I refuse to admit either since they don't apply to me or my philos.

A) the brain is the defining characteristic of a human. A human without a brain is typically termed to be in either a vegitative state, or dead.
B) I never stated support for the killing of "born babies." That's why it's called "abortion." To "abort" the pregnancy, before the child comes to term (Born)

The medical definition of brain death is "Irreversible brain damage and loss of brain function, as evidenced by cessation of breathing and other vital reflexes, unresponsiveness to stimuli, absence of muscle activity, and a flat electroencephalogram for a specific length of time." The key word here is "irreversible". All things being equal, human embryos do not fit this definition.
