Your own Moroni for Christmas!!!!!!
Last week I went into town and visited the local Wal-Mart. Funny how Christmas items are appearing earlier and earlier - Halloween isn't even past. Well, while strolling through the Jewelry Department I looked at the assorted Christmas gifts available: ceramic fountains, clocks set in lighted churches, ceramic coyotes......and a golden angel Mormoni. I couldn't believe my eyes. Well, investigating further, I saw that the angel stands about 10 inches tall and is painted metalic gold. He comes with his own trumpet, which the buyer must place in Moroni's outstretched hand and mouth. Before inserting the trump, if you look at Moroni's face - well, all I can say is that it looks really ugly....check it out for yourself.
Not to be outdone, I understand that next week K-Mart will be offerring a small ceramic replica of the great pyramid headstone found at Charles Taze Russell's grave (the only hitch is that you can't give it as a Christmas present!).

Metallic gold paint?

Well, it's covered with a gold paint or covering - you have to see it to understand . Those velvet Jesus paintings are classic gaud! But, they'll probably be on Antiques Road show in 20 years and fetching a good price.

Are you sure it's actually Moroni? The pose (as seen at the top of the Salt Lake City temple) is fairly "angel classic." And if it's made in China, they may have just used the image with no concept of what it represents.

Oh, yes, it says "Angel Moroni" right on the box! I didn't check to see where it's made, but China is a good guess. Don't forget that the ordering is done in Arkansas by merchandise specialists. My guess is that Angel Moroni is not sold in Wal-marts in New Jersey, but at Wal-Marts in areas with a Mormon target population. Someone in the corporate system knows who Moroni is and knows where he'll sell best.

Heck, Cru, I can't even compare to that. My wife likes frogs ... my bathroom looks like one of the ten plagues. Frogs everywhere!

You might want to ask the Wal-Mart marketing people if they'd consider that - meanwhile, you can read about the 15" (it was bigger than I thought) Angel Moroni on Wal-Mart shelves at the following site:
