This thread is about someone we cared about who passed away....it is not a thread to use so you can make comments related to your interpretation of Genesis.

Re: Win-Ace
Hmm, I have mixed sympathies about the above thoughts.

I certainly agree we should be thankful we've made it as far as we have. I think that this is perhaps the most significant thing anyone has said in this thread, Minn. Life is a precious gift - and this is true no matter how long (or short it is). Whether it be 9 months or 90 years.
It is for this reason I feel less inclined to agree with the first sentence. I can understand the sadness. Like many others, I was fond of Allan, and I had my fair share of good-hearted run-ins with him back when I used to spend my TWeb time mainly in Apologetics. I will miss him, I will pray for him and for his family, and I'm especially sorry that I didn't make the effort to reach out to him more recently, knowing what he was going through. However, while feeling saddened at his death, let us not forget to celebrate his life - which (even at 20 years) was still a precious gift. I know that he played a significant part in forming the person that I am today, and I am guessing by the response here and elsewhere that I am not the only one. His life may have been shorter than average, but it was most certainly not a waste.Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Re: Win-Ace
Jezz,
I understand where you're coming from and agree that Allan's contribution to life should in no way be minimized. However, this is not what I had in mind by my remark, but rather his potential, which was cut short and wasted by death. Whether or not we agreed with Allan, I think we all saw an honest and honorable person who had at least 60 years of good still left in him, something this world is in very short supply of.

Re: Win-Ace
Was WinAce "known"? Who knew WinAce? Is there a thread or posts that I could read to gain some insight here. With respect and compassion, thank you.

My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don't really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz
