Monotheism VS Polytheism
Is monotheism more rational than polytheism?
Why?

Yes, Occams Razor.

Re: Monotheism VS Polytheism
Monotheists would believe it is more rational because they believe it is correct. The same can be said for polytheists. The fact is that this is an argument that will go around and around but no one will be able to "prove" their side as more correct.

I would also contend that polytheism is a degenerate form of monotheism.

polytheists, on the other hand, would contend that monotheism is a degenerate form of polytheism.

And they would be wrong

Occam's Razor is itself an irrational assumption.

So true... asking which idea is more rational is an almost redundant question as if differs from religion to religion and of course it varies person to person within each religion or outside of religion as everybody invisions God or the Gods in their own way... I've met some Christians who think of God in an almost pantheistic way... while other's invision Him as a kind of eminent being... likewise I've met people who seem to be polytheists but actualy worship these multiple Gods as different faces of one God...
The Hindus are really confusing this way... and I mean really confusing
I suppose if there is a proper answer to your question though... it's "Whatever floats your boat...""It is wrong to think that misfortunes come from the east or from the west; they originate within one's own mind. Therefore, it is foolish to guard against misfortunes from the external world and leave the inner mind uncontrolled."

If you chose to simply apply Occam's Razor only, keep cutting. Athiem would be the simplist explanation.

Re: Monotheism VS Polytheism
From the Vedic worldview Christianity is equally problematic with three Gods as one and at least one lesser god running around causing mischief. Add a few more very powerful influencial angels, and oh . . . I almost forgot God's mother.

Re: Monotheism VS Polytheism
God does not have a mother (unless your a fanatical Catholic) he only became flesh- partook of the same nature as his creation, for the purpose of redemption.

Yeah, "evolution" of religion is indeed wierd. It must be the 'Divine Radiation' - talking donkeys, dragons, multi-headed beasts and such.
