OK, we had a doctor visit yesterday at MD Anderson. I was in the assigned waiting area, when Mrs. CP texted me from her exam room that the doctor's aid just explained to her that the doc will be in shortly to go over the results of the test that was done 3 weeks ago. Mrs. CP didn't like the apparent direction this was going, and was concerned they were going to prepare her for "full blown chemotherapy".
I went to the front desk, and asked to be with my wife, whereby they escorted me to her exam room where the doctor had just arrived.
The doctor shook my hand, then she smiled really big and said, "I think you're going to like this".
She showed the results of the test that predict - not just based on percentages of general population, but on the specific genetic factors of my wife's case - the likelihood of recurrence of this cancer in EITHER breast. Her risk factor was 14, which was on the very LOW end, meaning......
NO CHEMO NECESSARY!!!!
She will take one small pill a day as an estrogen blocker, as this particular cancer was "hormone fed". Side effects are minimal, drug interactions are zero, wife is elated.The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.Comment
