Al-Zarqawi May Be Among Dead in Iraq Fight

      News | Article

Iraq - U.S. forces sealed off a house in the northern city of Mosul where eight suspected al-Qaida members died in a gunfight — some by their own hand to avoid capture. A U.S. official said Sunday that efforts were under way to determine if terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was among the dead.

Insurgents, meanwhile, killed an American soldier and a Marine in separate attacks over the weekend, while a British soldier was killed by a roadside bomb in the south.

In Washington, a U.S. official said the identities of the terror suspects killed in the Saturday raid was unknown. Asked if they could include al-Zarqawi, the official replied: "There are efforts under way to determine if he was killed."

Additionally the tribe in Jordan that Zarqawi descends from has repudiatedd him and terrorism in general. In a statement they said:

''We absolutely denounce all terrorist acts adopted by Ahmad Fadel Nazzal al-Khalayleh, alias Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and affirm that we, the sons of the Khalayleh tribe, repudiate him''

Wish he could have been captured and brought to trial ... but if he's dead, it's good enough.

Hmm, I have my doubts he's there... but it would be nice if he were among the dead.

I'm a little worried that the ACLU might get him released because nobody read him his rights.

Yeah Drudge just reported that on his talk show. The White House may just be playing it safe until the DNA evidence is examined. We'll just have to wait and see I guess...
