Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
For the first time since I bought it, I will be sleeping on my new memory foam mattress tonight.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
I've been sleeping on the guest bed, since I only just unrolled the memory foam mattress a few days ago, and it takes a few days to completely regain its shape.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
Today I washed the guest bed sheets and we got the room ready, so I'm in my own room tonight.

I'm leaving for America in just over 12 hours! How exciting!
Crab Battle
noun
Words uttered to incite an all in brawl. Whoever says the words 'Crab Battle' will usually be spear tackled to the ground by anyone else present, and all parties will then engage in a fight to the death.
Reality untouchable, transparent, invisible to our fixed, restricted fields of vision. Existence taken for granted, absolute. Possessed, owned, controlled by the common sense-infected rational gaze, onward forever we walk among the ignorant. Never stray from the common lines.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
I rarely hear people say "howdy". I know it's stereotypical for this area, but most people just don't use it. The exception might be "Real Texans", i.e. the men who wear cowboy boots and a bolo tie with their suit coat and blue jeans and carry a gun everywhere they go. And yes, those exist, I seen 'em.
"Y'all" - OK, this one is used so much, that I didn't even notice how often I said it until I moved to Utah and people started making fun of me for it.
"You bet'cha"? This ain't Minnesota.
They are referred to as "French fries", nobody says "taters".
"Ain't" Ehh, people here say it, but I heard it more when we lived in Georgia.
"Git" - What?
We once visited a church here, where, when in agreement with the preacher, the men would say "Yuuuup!" instead of "Amen!". True story. We never went back.
Occasionally, Mum says "I reckon" to mean "yes" when answering a "May I have/do...?" type question.
Double/triple negatives are more common in the Deep South than they are here, e.g. Georgia.Curiosity never hurt anyone. It was stupidity that killed the cat.

I need to go to the grocery store this morning. I need cheesecake ingredients, and I am also going to get a couple pumpkin empanadas for RG to eat when he gets here.
