Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
At this point, I am lucky if I even lose five pounds before the trip, let alone ten.

I need to tell myself how much better it will be to savor the cuisine of France over there than here.

And how it is not worth it to keep feeling miserable and totally zapped of energy.

I need to start logging in my food intake, to prevent any "food amnesia."

It's official: more water and veggies for me.
Fewer refined carbs and high-fat dairy products.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
For example: everytime I make a café con leche, I use around a cup of whole milk and I add 3 packets of sugar to it (Sugar in the Raw).
That is done twice a day. Maybe three if I have to stay up late doing a paper.
One cup of whole milk contains 150 calories with 70 more calories from fat. On top of that, it also has 11 grams of sugar.
One gram of sugar has 4 more calories.
4 x 11 = 44.
Just the milk alone has a total of 264 calories.
Coffee has no calories, but it does have a strong taste that requires a sweetener.
Here comes the sugar!

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
One packet of Sugar in the Raw (exactly one tsp.) has 20 calories and, strangely enough, 5 grams of sugar.
This means that one packet of sugar packs another 40 calories.
I mentioned that I was using three packets of sugar.
3 x 40 = 120.
My total so far for one cup of café con leche is 384 calories.

And I drink two cups a day on a regular basis. Maybe three.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
Sugar makes me sick. I can't eat more than a small amount at a time, or it will wreck my whole day.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
Anyway, one cup of café con leche the way I drink it now is already iffy. Two or three cups is really pushing.
I mean, I am not even including the other foods I ingest.

Substitution: 384 calories to zero by switching to water with just one bag of boiled green tea (without sugar).

I am also aware that not all calories are created equally. Hence why fruits and veggies are so much better than dairy and meats.
