I think I´d have finished it if I were not out on "vacations".

"If I were not on vacation." "Vacation" is not used in the plural form in English, unless you are talking about multiple vacations. And, in that case, people would just slip to calling them "trips" rather than "vacations."

(Using it in the plural form is typical of romance languages: vacacciones in Spanish, les vacances in French. I suspect the same applies to Portuguese. )


Further to add: in British English, one uses the term "holiday" rather than "vacation." Vacation is used extensively by Americans.

A Brit goes off on holiday. An American goes on vacation.

Yeah. I remember that and I had a little discussion if the wrapper of poptarts was metallic since it had a nice silver sheen and might make the metal detectors go off at the airport.

Yes, but the ones I had didn't have those wrappers. They were the ones from the big boxes from Sam's, and they have the plastic wrappers with the barcodes on them for resale.
