I should sleep now, I guess. I don't know what tomorrow will bring.

Probably not a wage that could sustain even a meager lifestyle.

I've put in too many hours to get paid what they're paying me.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
What's really bad is that at $8.50 an hour, even taking taxes into account, they really owe me $1013.60 . . . and I'm only asking for $200.

At an hourly wage that isn't crap, it'd be even worse.

...Oh, wow.
I wasn't awake when you sent me a message on AIM yesterday. It was around the same time you were spilling out your rant on here.

Imagine this, LS: I'm reading this rant exactly one year from the date I was "laid off" my crap job at the law office.

And, despite the outright indignation that you have right now, you have to remember one thing: it's business.

No matter how personal it is to you, you must remember that you are another employee to this business.

But I understand how upset you are about the whole thing. It is very, very personal.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
In my case, I was laid off just a few days of what was my third year working for the law office, which meant that I was due to for a raise.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
But that was not to be: the company was (and still is) undergoing financial difficulties and was seeking ways to cut costs. So, first they told me that they wanted to lay me off to avoid giving me a raise.

Re: Shepherd's belated bonus point spam thread.
But in the two weeks I still had left working for the law office, I spotted an add on Craigslist looking for a "detail oriented person." That job was being offered for $7-10 hourly. I was making $12 an hour.
It didn't take me much to realize that my employer had placed that add on Craigslist, because he never spelled "detail-oriented" with a hyphen.
