Well, you just must be using words in a humpty dumpty fashion as far as I can see. If "the happening or non-happening of "an actual historical fact" is irrelevant for faith in it" then it seems to me you are saying that the facts don't matter.

Oh but tush, I can show you historical facts that undermine your position Sirrah, so therefore it does matter what the facts are, and therefore what we believe - for we should believe the truth

Nay Sir, since I do not accept the meaning you place upon said facts - and that is all that matters - all it boils down to is your meaning verses my meaning.

How so?

You say the Israelites were delivered by Cyrus, and you then applied the methodology of the "G Ernest Wright School of Biblical Theology" by saying that in retrospect they interpreted their experience as God's deliverance. But that is just your opinion, your meaning read into the facts - which, firstly, didn't need to exist, since on the basis of what you have said, it makes little difference if there were a people called Israelites, or a man called Cyrus - and, secondly, the only facts are those which we have in a written account purporting to come from before the event giving people's meanings. But since you are methodologically predisposed to deny miraculous interventions & prophecy, you must put together this gobble-dy gook pseudo intellectual mish mash to explain it away, since you have no intention of accepting that there might be an interpretation of the facts that fits the data we have, and that justifies belief in a God who has intervened in history; therefore, you are as guilty as you make us out to be, and are a relativist, because all that matters to you is your truth, your meaning.
