The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: Ewww...
It doesn't surprise (or disgust!) me at all. The water used to flush toilets comes from the mains system; of course it's going to be clean. The girl who did the experiment said she flushed the toilet before collecting the water, meaning the water she was using had been sitting in the tank not the toilet itself, one would expect it to be resonably clean due to a lack of time for it to gather bacteria. If she'd used water known to have been sitting in an uncleaned toilet for several days I expect the results would be rather different.

If anything this result is an indication of just how clean mains water is rather than how dirty the ice is!
Jonathan."Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ, if sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies; and if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay, and not madly to destory themselves. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for."

Well, folks eat that ice every day, and don't get sick. This maysuggest that low level bacterial intake can help protect us from dangerous bacteria.

Many years ago, my wife and I rented a little house out in the country. The water for the house came from a spring up the hill. There was a large redwood storage tank. One day I went up to look into the tank and found frogs swimming in the water. We never got sick from drinking that water, and who knows what all was in it.He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)
