      No contradiction, however. Guilty spouse leaves for another thereby severing the connection (again per Jesus), so why is the innocent spouse obliged to remain single?

        The other thing to consider is Jesus statement that divorce was not given in the beginning, but was added because of hardness of hearts. Regardless of the cultural implications of divorce regarding family structure, Jesus makes it clear that divorce is very much a fallen thing, not a creative design thing.

        We also have 1 Corinthians 7 to consider.
