      FAO all YEC!

Do you believe there was destruction in heaven such a supernovae and meteor craters before the fall of man? Are such destructive events reconcilable with a creation that God called very good? If you believe supernovae happened after the fall did they take place naturally, because a change in nature or because God intervened?

Your topic title is "FAO..." just curious what that means.

Anyway, no, probably not enough time from the Creation of stars and such, on day 4, to the Fall of Man, sometime after the 7th day of the Creation week, but before the birth of Cain (and i would guess that the Fall was most likely prior to Cain's conception.... Gen 4:1) and absolutly before Adam was 130 years old, when Seth was born Gen 5:3.... so, i suppose it's possible that meteor craters and supernova happened before the Fall, but less than 130 years from the time of Creation seems like it probably wasnt enough time.

      Hi there!

The book of Revelation tells us that there was a war in heaven, yet it doesn't tell us all the details of that time. Most people who support the gap theory put that time frame between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2, therefore all of "that" happened before the creation of man, the fall of man and the statement from God that the work was "very good".

I hope this helps in your understanding.

Why wouldn't supernovae happen before the fall? They would have to be quite close (astronomically speaking) to have an adverse effect on Earth. Meteorite impacts are also rare enough that IIRC there are no records of anyone actually being killed by one. I don't think either event is a result of the fall. Then again, I'm not certain that anything other than humans was exempt from death before the fall.

Yeah, I'm not convinced that the destruction of inanimate objects has to be a 'bad' thing. Lets face it, they are both very beautiful and have little negative impact on human life...
"Reason directs those who are truly pious and philosophical to honour and love only what is true, declining to follow traditional opinions, if these be worthless. For not only does sound reason direct us to refuse the guidance of those who did or taught anything wrong, but it is incumbent on the lover of truth, by all means, and if death be threatened, even before his own life, to choose to do and say what is right." ~ Justin Martyr

Thank you, that clears that up. :)

      This, however, is less clear...

From the standpoint of the OP, it appears to me that the Gap Theory is, at best, a moot point. Assuming that the Gap Theory (between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2) explains the Fall of angels (which i personally doubt), it does not seem to answer the question of supernova and meteor craters; since they were created on day 4 of the Creation week.

If i've missed something, feel free to clear that up... you done good before :)

      heavens,

With God, there is no time measurement, all is eternity, all is now, past is now, present is now, future is now. Chapter two of Genesis tells us that all the plants were created mature, not as seeds maturing, but in an already mature state... "now". With that same understanding, the heavens and earth were created in a "now" mature state.
