San Francisco assemblyman calls Christians "loud," "obnoxious" and "disgusting"
And I'm sure Pee Wee and other atheists and agnostics here will mindlessly agree with him:
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...NG6OHU6RR1.DTL
Oh, right, right, right. I'm sure PW will remind us that he's actually calling evangelical/fundamentalist Christians loud, obnoxious and disgusting and accuse me of being "dishonest."
And judging from the first page of thumbnails of a Google images search for "san francisco gay pride," I have to ask who are the ones who are loud, obnoxious and disgusting again?

I am neither mindless, nor an atheist, nor an agnostic, yet based on the information I have, I agree with the Assemblyman.

Back? This was posted last month.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Well, as much as I usaully find Jinx' posts to be pretty vitriolic and of no purpose, I have to say that these folks are as entitled to gather and sing songs and what not as anyone else.

I have to say I agree. If you do not favor of freedom of expression for those whose thoughts you find horrendous, then you do not favor freedom of expression.

Re: San Francisco assemblyman calls Christians "loud," "obnoxious" and "disgusting"
I'm not sure if I understood your intentions in this post but there is a line to be drawn when we talk of freedom of expression. Seeing nude images in public just isn't respectful to those who wish not to see it. Do it in your own home not where everyone can see it. Even seeing men in thong bottoms is abhorrent. Might as well be naked.

IMO LA's comments were addressing the "thought" content and how important it is to not censure expressions of thoughts based on personal rejection or opposition to such thoughts. You will find that for most non theists or freethinkers, they hold dear such concept. Contrary to other groups who tend to only approve of the freedom to express thoughts they agree with.

Re: San Francisco assemblyman calls Christians "loud," "obnoxious" and "disgusting"
Sigh.
This brings about memories of............
The Obnoxious ACLU
“I am not a religious man. I’m neither proud of that nor ashamed. I merely state the fact to establish where I’m coming from. I have friends who are believers and friends who are not. Where religion is concerned, I believe in live and let live. I only wish that the American Civil Liberties Union shared that attitude. I don’t like to describe myself as an agnostic or an atheist because I don‘t care to align myself with the people whose own religion consists of a profound antipathy to everybody else’s. Having said all that, I wish to announce that I despise the ACLU for its relentless attacks on Christianity and Judaism. It’s bad enough that they will wage battle on behalf of any busybody looking to banish Christian and Hanukah symbols from public places, including one’s own front yard. However, these very same lawyers will eagerly go to the mat to safeguard a Muslim’s right to wear a disguise on her driver’s license, a Navajo’s right to smoke peyote, and a cultist’s right to ritualistically slaughter small animals. The problem with the ACLU is that it is composed in equal measure of self-righteous fools and fascistic bullies. If the authors of the Constitution had ever, in their worst nightmares, envisioned a group as vile as the ACLU, I feel certain that they would have rephrased the First Amendment to read: ‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Period! And we’re not kidding, so help us God!’”

Re: San Francisco assemblyman calls Christians "loud," "obnoxious" and "disgusting"
the closest term to me as is would be a dualistic agnostic
and I just find Christians as other people...Light, in the absence of eyes, illuminates nothing. Visible forms are not inherent in the world, but are granted by the act of seeing. Though the world and events do exist independent of mind, they obtain of no meaning in themselves: none that the mind is not guilty of imposing on them. I bid my people follow, and like all good equations, they follow; for full endowment of purpose, they do submit - in turn, they resign me to a role inhuman, impossible, and unaccountable. But I can no longer stand the sleepless nights. ...I think I am learning to love the Demiurge. - Trevor Goodchild (Aeon Flux Episode:demiurge)
