Enter the Church and wash away your sins. For here there is a hospital and not a court of law. Do not be ashamed to enter the Church; be ashamed when you sin, but not when you repent. – St. John Chrysostom

I recommend you do not try too hard and ...research as little as possible. Such weighty things give me a headache. - Shunyadragon, Baha'i apologist

      Yessir... when duty calls.

He just really likes to transcend dental medication.
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

Do you yearn for the days of yore before there were pews, and everybody stood all the time? When pews started being used, the powers that be decided that during some parts of the mass people could sit. That quickly turned into the parts of the mass when everybody sat.

Traditionally, Orthodox churches didn't have pews, just benches along the walls where the aged or infirm could rest at times (though many Orthodox churches in America have pews).

Since I'm the Pastor, MOST of my time is spent standing!

I really was impressed, though, when I was in Haiti -- in the Church there, it is much more like you describe -- the majority of the people stood, with the elderly or infirm sitting on wooden benches along the wall, and others standing outside listening through the windows. And their service lasted for over 2 hours.
