I'm a little confused by CP's post - that he's being prepped indicates a donor has been found but CP seemed to be saying otherwise.

He's prepared as much as can be without an actual donor -- he's on the wing in ICU right next to the surgery suite. It's a "no time lost" situation as soon as a donor liver is available.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

The transplant is not a cure - but the healthy liver takes a very long time to damage and with good care, that can be minimized.
yeah you are right. but getting a whole liver is better than getting a partial. especiale if someone like Jim is that sick

While I disagree with the underlying assumption (which we can debate elsewhere), I do think this is a good way to look at it.

(Note to self: come back and amen this. Stupid phone version....)

No phone call last night. Maybe today.

Jim has always called July 4 his "half birthday", because it's exactly halfway between his real birthday days.

Jim had a bad day today... vital signs not as good as they were, but still within tolerance to keep him on the recipient list. If he continues to... if he doesn't turn things around, he'll be dropped from the list.

It's quite a balancing act, it seems... he has to be in critical condition in order to need the transplant, but he has to be healthy enough to tolerate the surgery, and he's "right on the edge".

                    I honestly don't know, Sparko.

No news, but today is another day. Haven't heard from Diane yet this morning, so we will keep praying.

Still nothing new.... it's really wearing on Diane, but she's keeping a positive attitude.
