My Hearthstone Fanfiction
Hey folks! As most of you probably know, JP Holding has a series of comics on his website, www.tektoonics.com, called the "Hearthstone" series. I wanted to write a fanfiction for this series because I really appreciated how much thought JP put into shaping the world of Hearthstone. The overall picture of what he made, I thought, was fascinating, and I felt it deserved some fans.

Well, here it is. The prologue for my Hearthstone fanfiction. I thought a LOT about this story; I wanted to make it absolutely perfect. It's a very dark story, which is something that I personally like about it.
Thanks for reading.
------------------------------------
His life was slipping away. The long, slender claw that bound him, the machine that held Meliash captive, was brutal. It was merciless. As Meliash felt himself being pulled, he felt himself dying. He was desperately pulling feebly on the claw that bound him with his deformed, blood soaked hands. There was no escape for him now. "I'm dying..." How did I get to this? Meliash, or anybody in his situation, could only wonder about this.
They say that, right before you die, your entire life flashes before your eyes. That was an understatement for Meliash. His life now was not before his eyes, but rather, he wasn't seeing his life, he was living his life. Every moment that he felt, every single memory, whether wondrous or painful, was his temporary reality once more. He felt his hands climbing up on the mountain peeks that surrounded the valley in which he lived. He felt the much too familiar pain of his internal blood vomiting out of his mouth. He felt the torture of his people's laughter once more. He felt every single piece of joy, and every piece of hardship that he went through.
That's what the story of his life seemed to be. Hardship. Nothing could more true than the fact that he wanted to curse reality for his meager existence. Why would anybody hate him so much to make him such a grotesque monster? Why would anybody want to put the malicious urge to kill inside of him? His mother, upon his birth, hated him enough to name him Meliash, the name of the accursed child of Harbaem, the cosmic father of the people the valley of Ishkahem. His father hated him enough to laugh at the blood dripping from his mouth after every time he vomited his blood, and to grin at how easily his skin teared when pulled upon. He could only think of one person who ever showed him any sort of love, and that person was a continent away. There was reason to hate him though; one could only hate someone as malevolent and hate filled as him. One could only despise someone who was filled with the level of glee that he felt upon the pain of others, and Meliash knew this. He wanted to be different, he tried to be different, but he couldn't be different.. His life was filled with the horror that he was, the emotional trauma that was his people, and now his life was ending like this; he was being mentally absorbed into an abomination while being held down with a spiked claw in his stomach.
"Why have I been allowed to suffer so much? Why have I been allowed to survive through such pain?"
Little did Meliash know, he was about to find out.

Re: My Hearthstone Fanfiction
Well, I just got finished writing up some of what I've thought of the people's mythology. You people tell me what you think!

---------------------------------------
On the Creation of the World,
In the beginning of this world, there dwelt the Cosmic Orb. This Orb contained within it the great dragon known as Chaos. Chaos was angry at the Cosmic Orb for holding him captive within itself, so Chaos schemed to destroy the Orb and set himself free. After many days, Chaos broke free of the Orb, but he was weary from the effort, for the orb was quite hard and difficult to break, and Chaos died.
When Chaos died, the great Rhose* leaped from his head. The Rhose's name was Harmony. Harmony roamed free, for Chaos held Harmony captive while Chaos was within the Cosmic Orb.
Now, upon Chaos's death, many of his scales fell to the ground. The first scale that fell took the shape of a beautiful woman. Her name was Love. Love now roamed in search of Harmony, for Chaos, for a long era, had distorted her, and Love hoped that Harmony could heal her distortion.
A second scale fell to the ground. This scale took the form of an ugly man. The man's name was Hate. Hate, for a long era, was bound in pleasure to Chaos, for Chaos fed Hate. Hate then followed Love and tried to kill her, for Hate was the opposite of Love. Hate injured Love, but Love did not die because of Hate's attacks.
A third scale fell to the ground. This scale took the form of a beautiful woman, just as the first scale had done. Her name was honesty. Honesty then roamed free in search for Harmony, for Chaos had held her captive, and distorted her. She hoped, like Love, that Harmony could heal her distortion.
A fourth scale fell to the ground. This scale took the form of an ugly man. His name was Deception. Deception, for a long time, was bound in pleasure to Chaos, just as the second scale was, for Chaos fed Deception. Deception, like the second scale, tried to follow Honesty and kill her, just as Hate tried to do to Love. Honesty was injured by Deception, but she did not die because of his attacks.
A fifth scale fell to the ground. It took the form of a beautiful woman. Her name was Bravery. Bravery, for a long time, had been distorted by Chaos, and she, like Love and Honesty, roamed after Harmony so that Harmony could heal her distortion.
A sixth scale fell to the ground. This scale took the form of an ugly man. His name was Cowardice. Cowardice was bound for a long time in pleasure to Chaos, for Chaos fed Cowardice. Cowardice then tried to kill Bravery. Bravery was injured by Cowardice's attacks, but she was not killed.
A seventh scale fell to the ground. This scale took the form of a beautiful woman. Her name was Beauty. Beauty roamed for a long time after Harmony to heal her, for Chaos had also distorted Beauty.
An eighth scale fell to the ground. This scale took the form of an ugly man. His name was Ugliness. He was bound, for a long time, in pleasure to Chaos, for Chaos fed Ugliness. Ugliness followed and tried to kill Beauty. Beauty was injured by Ugliness' attacks, but she was not killed.

Re: My Hearthstone Fanfiction
I'd read it but with my advanced ADD I'd forget about it after the second sentence.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

What do you want me to do? Make the main character a fundamentalist atheist and put a bunch of ant-Christian idiocy into his mouth?

Re: My Hearthstone Fanfiction
Darth, I made a version that you can pay attention to!

------------------------------------
His life was slipping away. God wouldn't let people die. Meliash was dying. Therefore God doesn't exist. God wouldn't make evil metallic claws. An evil metallic claw was killing Meliash, therefore God can't exist. God wouldn't let anybody have the name of Meliash. God can't exist because a loving God would not do that.
God would not let Meliash have such a horrible life. Meliash tried to follow the golden rule, but it didn't work because he was a masochist. Everybody hated him because he tried to follow the golden rule. His life totally sucked. He had some physical mutations. God wouldn't make mutations if he existed. Why didn't God heal amputees, err, Meliash?
Meliash also tried to follow the Bible. That didn't work because Meliash correctly interpreted the extermination of the Amalekites and realized that he should exterminate everybody. Meliash tried to argue against the evil apologists in his village, but they stoned him because they're evil apologists. JP Holding can't explain why Meliash had such a bad life. JP Holding sucks. JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding Meliash hates JP Holding kill JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding JP Holding.
Therefore, God doesn't exist.
------------------------------------
Were you able to pay attention to that?

Yes. Most excellent. It has my seal of approval. I cannot say I like it though. I have a reputation to uphold.
