How? Murder is not allowed. And they ain't gonna be socially shamed.
If it weren't for the Resurrection of Jesus, we'd all be in DEEP TROUBLE!

Denominational breakaway (see: the PCUSA). The article clearly doesn't have murder in mind.
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

DJBrock, it is the policy of TWeb that advertisements for other blogs and sites are restricted to the sig block. We have made exceptions only for those with their own area here, like Nick. So, can you please refrain from linking to your blog in your posts and if you have a post to discuss, you're welcome to paste the contents here?

I didn't read the article, so I didn't realize the context.

I think Bill would be fine if what Darris did was to post the entire post here and include a link in the OP like I do with my threads. Is that correct Bill?

Yes. But only in your area. He can post elsewhere on the forum, but if he wants to link to his blog, it needs to be in his sig block when in other areas. You have a bit more reign in your area for what you allow, and if you are ok with him posting like your Deeper Waters posts, then we are too.

                  1 Cor 7:9

"But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion. But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife should not leave her husband."

I think this is ultimately the problem and why it's not easily solved with a fantastical "purge." Human beings, even Christian heterosexuals, are saddled with the reproductive equipment of mammals who were designed to produce many offspring. As a result, not even most Christians have the self control to contain their passions. Hence most can't even manage to follow Paul's advice to keep it in their pants.

I agree. You should go on a giant purge of the church, and kick out everyone who doesn't conform to your high standards. Make sure you take a really strong stand on issues of homosexuality.

I can't imagine much that would advance the cause of atheism more rapidly.

Because the Church should be concerned with compromised standards...

Basically, every Christian man who marries declares his libido is more important than full devotion to Christ. Perhaps Paul's suggestion implies that unhalved devotion would make a stronger church.

You might try actually reading all that Paul said on the matter rather than cherry picking.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Whag if you look at the context of the early Church, they needed evangelists to get the message out and this would involve traveling and also dangers like prison and even death since Christians were not well received in places. I think this was Paul's way of encouraging single people to be evangelists. It is not impossible to be married and an evangelist but it is more difficult since you will have more things to distract you ie if you have a family you need regular income to support them etc.
