I used my $74 electric chain saw from Lowes, and cut a bird's mouth notch in the side of the tree toward the direction I wanted it to fall, then a cut across (and slightly above) the back of that, and she just slowly leaned... then a mighty crack and a WHUMP as she lay in the clearing.Originally posted by Jedidiah View Post

And cutting down a living tree only kills the trunk - the tree itself is still living. Haven't you ever heard of coppice or pollard, Mr Great Outdoorsman?
