Re: Knitting lace....
Here are 3 scarves I knit for my 3 good friends at one of my Bible studies. I have known these ladies for many years, and I think they liked the scarves.
This is the remainder of the wool that I used in the Spiderweb shawl. I think I have enough for one more scarf. I added beads to all the scarves, just for fun. I like the beads.
First pictures are of the Hanging Garden scarf. I adapted the pattern from the shawl that I knit and referred to earlier in this thread to make the scarf.

Then there is Mist. A new pattern, free from the internet, knits up quickly and is quite pretty.

And, finally, Trellis and Openwork, a pattern I adapted from a shawl in the same book that the Spiderweb shawl pattern is in.

Re: Knitting lace....
Nice. I don't think I would have the patience to knit anything like that.

Thanks, doll!
They really are easy. It's just yo's and k2 tog. and stuff, but with a finer yarn.

Re: Knitting lace....
The scarves were quick. Did all three in about 6 weeks. Small enough to take out and knit in public, as long as you leave the beads behind, they are a pain.
I knit lace for years without knowing it every time I knit an afghan.
But, to each his or her own. And anybody who knits anything is okay in my book.

Re: Knitting lace....
I have just finished another scarf. For a friend who made me a very lovely gift.
This is called Diamonds and Triangles, adapted from a shawl pattern. I used sort of turqoise-y beads on it. The colour of the beads is not apparent in the pictures, and they only add a bit of glimmer to the scarf, which I quite like. The wool is "Jay" kettle-dyed merino.
The first 2 pics are the scarf being blocked.

And now the scarf is draped artfully over a tablecloth on a chair. The colour of the yard is more apparent here than in the pics where it is pinned out on my green mats.

2 new projects. Same pattern, same yarn, different colours. Scarves, for 2 wonderful friends.

Ya gotta quit laying them over the couch to photograph like that - they begin to look too much like chair doilies.

The Trellis one would make a beautiful table runner. Done in or with a metallic thread you could make a really great holiday runner!
