Re: Knitting lace....
Thanks, Laura!
You'll notice I didn't have it draped over the tablecloth on the chair again.
This time I hung the tablecloth on a clothes hanger first....

Re: Knitting lace....
Remember I mentioned how my sister knits with really fine stuff and small needles? Here are pics of her latest fine project.
She blocked this one to 60" across, and it could have been bigger. Knit with a 50/50 yak/silk combo.
The pattern was designed by a German man named Niebling, who knit his stuff out of his head and then wrote the patterns down. Absolutely stunning, imo. I aspire to do work like this one day.

Re: Knitting lace....
That's what I said.
My sis knits with terrible arthritis in her fingers. She has had surgery to replace joints in the small finger and ring finger of one of her hands (I can't remember which one), and has real range of motion problems. And look at what she can do!
She teaches me about more than knitting, that's for sure.

Re: Knitting lace....
Uh-huh!
Makes me want to rush right out and get some sewing thread and a couple of toothpicks!
Well, not really, but it would be interesting to work with something really fine.......

Re: Knitting lace....
This is not knitting, but it is extremely amazing.

And it would be very neat to be able to knit with this fibre.

Re: Knitting lace....
A couple more projects that I have finished. The scarf was knit this fall for a dear friend, in a checkerboard lace pattern, dark blue Zephyr silk/wool blend.
The shawl is the first shawl I knit, but only just got blocked. It is called "Hanging Garden", done in Knitpicks Alpaca Cloud wool, colour Iris.

Re: Knitting lace....
Thanks, sweet girl!
I received a bookmark in the mail today from my sister who got me hooked on knitting lace. She's the one who knit those gorgeous, fine, fine things from several posts ago.
The bookmark is woven on her loom. She used rayon sewing thread and fine silk (which she dyed using Wilton food colour). I will have to take a picture and post it here. I can't believe the intricacy of the design for such fine thread! She is SO talented!

Re: Knitting lace....
I'd love to learn how to tat lace too...alas with school, I'll have to live with what I can do right now: needlepoint, crewel, and cross stitch.
