    This wasn't large scale by any means but this does predate any previously found examples of farming by thousands of years.

    This discovery doubles the age of the earliest proto-agriculture.

            There is along history of Neolithic culture using genetic selection to come up with new strains of crops like corn, flax, rice, and other fruits, vegetables and grains. It is likely that the beginnings of cultivation is older.
