A couple of my kids have had it.. it's a tendon in the bottom of your foot that is... too short? Strained? I forget...

Anyway, it takes a while to heal, depending on the severity, but the doctor shoiuld be ble to tell you how to wrap your foot so it doesn't hurt when you walk around on it.

Just don't do anything crazy.

thanks guys. it's excruciatingly painful. especially when I first stand up and take a couple steps after sitting or laying down.

I'm already dreading having to get up to hobble to the car to go home. and pushing the accelerator pedal.............

in trying to think when it started...........

it started when warm weather arrived and I quit wearing heels everyday and starting wearing flat shoes or sandals.........

me thinks me haven't been stretching the calf muscles very well. i have that "high heel itis" that some working women get.

Dr. Schoals makes some nice ones for any shoe you have, even tennis shoes. Check with your doctor though.

You might try some arch supports. (That way you don't have to buy the granny shoes.) It worked pretty well for me.

BC, yes, I have had it, and I feel your pain!

However, mine are mostly cured now. I got myself a couple of pairs of Air Nike walkers, one pair black for outside and one pair white for inside the house.

The doc told me that I likely developed it by wearing only socks or going around barefoot most of my life (in the house, not outside, people, don't start with me! ).

I also have very high arches, which doesn't help the problem any. The pain first thing in the morning, especially was almost unbearable. I have been wearing the shoes now, every day, for the last couple of years, and I don't have any pain any more.

It is so much more better that I can now wear nice shoes once in a while, like to church or when I am dressed up for something.

I also, with the shoes, got a really good pair of insoles for each pair of shoes. They have a really, really good arch support and help, at least with my high arch issue. I got them at the same store that I got the shoes.

Most of the athletic shoe stores here in Canucksville will usually have good sales on, like buy a pair of shoes and get a second pair half price. That's how I got mine, and also the insoles, which were about $25 a pair.

Worth it to get rid of the pain. And according to my doc, if the shoes didn't work, the next step was orthotics, which I really didn't want to do. So am very thankful the shoes did the job!

update:

I went to CVS and got some Dr. Scholls orthotics inserts for this specific problem. So far......... pretty nice. I feel like I have balls crammed in my arches, but it's pretty much taking the pain off my heels........

hopefully, this will work. I'll be wearing the tennis shoes with the inserts to work with EVERYTHING! Won't I be a lovely fashion statement!
