Re: Noah's Ark Found in Iran?!
Josephus actually says "locals" essentially raided the ark and took parts home? Who were the locals? Was it Noah and his family? And I note you added the (and tourists). Now as I understand it, everyone else drowned. So who was left to raid the ark? I think that is why we might doubt Josephus is telling the truth. If the bible story is true there isn't anyone left to steal the nails and tar. Or did some tourists manage to tread water for a year? It is interesting to me that the same person used as corroboration for Jesus also happens to have first hand knowledge of what happened to the ark.
Of course, maybe the description of the "flood" was an exaggeration (myth) of the kinds apparently people wrote about in those days. Maybe instead of a huge boat full of animals and Noah's family floating on a worldwide flood, it was really just an oral legend passed down from generation to generation and the original event was that someone's family and their dogs got caught in some high water and had to catch a passing log to get them to safety.

decoski;
I have a few thoughts on this subject, but they are in a post on my blog. I don't know if anyone else has brought these points up or not, so I would appreciate it if you would take a look. It's "Noah's Ark and Flood". You can access it through the link in my signature. It would save me having to copy and paste it here.
P. S. : For those who have already seen the post, I've added a few lines to it.Last edited by rHarryr; May 12th 2008 at 01:37 PM. Reason: addes text.
Everyone should have a GOD gifted domitae (Minister, Pastoring-Teacher, or Teaching-Pastor) that can open doors and turn on lights of GOD's Word, and for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Proof of GODs' hand on history is evidenced by the fulfillment of prophecy at the appointed time.

Re: Noah's Ark Found in Iran?!
Earlier in the thread Ron Wyatt was mentioned. I watched a video on how he found Noah's Ark, and how he concluded that it really was Noah's Ark. I was impressed by several factors:
1. the make-up of the team: it was Ron, his wife, and their best friends who were another married couple.
2. This team managed to do in a few months or years what normally takes professional scientists an entire lifetime to accomplish.
The problem with the first point is that specialists tend not to marry specialists in the same field. Once in a while they do but when you get a team of four "specialists" who are all married and best friends, you begin to question whether they are true specialists. Further, when you see these "specialists" accomplishing in a matter of months of years what normally takes lifetimes you think, Aha! spoofs.
Somebody had a pocketbook to line or an ego to boost--possibly both.

Re: Noah's Ark Found in Iran?!
[QUOTE=The Curtmudgeon;1551149]Bob Cornuke, the leader of that expedition, was one of the two men (the other was Larry Williams) that "discovered" that Mt. Sinai was really Jebel al-Lawz in Saudi Arabia (i.e., outside the Sinai Peninsula, where it has generally been understood to be located), following leads originally "discovered" (or perhaps "invented" would be a better term) by Ron Wyatt, another leader of expeditions who claimed that he had found Noah's Ark, the other Ark, and numerous other Biblical artefacts. Point being, that Cornuke and Williams were very careful to claim full credit for the Jebel al-Lawz discovery while completely covering over that they stole the idea from Wyatt, with whom Williams had been earlier connected.
While not wanting to get into the Wyatt Foundation v. Cornuke et al. hassle in general, my own take is that neither side has enough true archaeological credentials to be taken seriously. Nothing I've seen on Cornuke's work has seemed at all credible. I'd put this story in the same pile.
Good points.......the video currently showing on myspace with Cornuke & Williams is amazing. Much of that footage actually comes from Jim and Penny Caldwell (Split Rock Foundation) who lived in Saudi Arabia for years and did much on-site investigation. They were able to sucessfully provide media for Wyatt as well as Cornuke & Williams....I was somewhat disturbed that there was no mention of Wyatt - and I also disagree with Cornuke/Williams' proposed crossing point of the "Red Sea".
