Kenneth Lay Dead of a heart attack in Aspen (Enron founder and convicted criminal)

      http://www.denverpost.com/ci_4013872

Ken Lay dies in Aspen, Colorado this morning - July 5th.

A.P. - HOUSTON -- Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay, who was convicted of helping perpetuate one of the most sprawling business frauds in U.S. history, has died of a heart attack in Colorado. He was 64. A secretary at his church and another secretary for his lead criminal lawyer, Michael Ramsey, both confirmed the death. Lay, who lived in Houston, frequently vacationed in Colorado.

Lay, who faced life in prison, was scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 23.

Doctors said his heart simply "gave out" and the death was unexpected, KPRC, the NBC-affiliate station in Houston reported.

      (end of A.P. news)

Comment on this sad news for his family, and would his former employees and stockholders be so lucky to dies at a Colorado resort for multi-millionaires and in a mansion worth millions? If there is no justice in this life (assign your own definition) then will there be justice served in heaven? (or the after life? Bad karma for America? this Earth? Peace and wellness for all? Nameste? (By the grace of God there go [you and] I?)

And, justice for all Enron victims? Did Ken Lay confess and seek forgiveness at his Church and from any and all victims from the Enron debacle?

Discuss this News item of the day for Wednesday, July 5th.

I sure and certain hope of the resurrection to life we commend his spirit unto God. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, earth to earth.

Having said that, one does find it convenient that he died at this time. I wonder it the autopsy will reveal suicide.

My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don't really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz

I feel for his wife and I surely do hope he died with diginity and even peace. He did have a long history of heart difficulties.

If and when I die, I would hope I can die on vacation in Aspen, and during the famous Classical music festival.

Ken Lay was the poster boy for what has gone wrong in America. But a potential sentence of life in prison? Come on. That is too much. I never thought of him as a criminal, but a decent man whose creeping greed got the better of him. Being disgraced was enough.

I'm not glad that Lay died, but I am glad that he escaped the awful retirement the system had in store for him.

I wish he would have served in prison, to serve as a warning to his peers, but nothing can give the people he bilked their money back, so...

I hope he and his family find peace, as do his victims.

I am sure those who had their lives ruined by his creeping greed wished they had only suffered a bit of disgrace and could live it up in Aspen. Life in prison was not enough but now Satan has called his servant home early......

Does hating this person or fantisizing out his eternal destiny accomplish anything but the corruption of one's own soul?

Even as a resident of California, a major victim of Enron's greed, I refuse to feel joy in any of this. What a sad mess.

Lay has gone before God to receive justice. The destiny of his soul is no longer our business.

Considering that his crimes were mainly against stockholders and other businessmen, and also considering that perhaps Enron employees (though honestly, far too many of those were quite complicit in the shenanigans against my old state of California) were the ones most hit, why would HR have such personal hatred for him? It's not like he's Lex Luthor or Bill Gates or anything.

Likely answer-most remaining liberals really are elitists in both the intellectual and financial sense, so any person who runs off with the cash register is a personal affront to their confidence in the whole stock system. They might have BOUGHT that Enron stock back when it was hot! Guys probably couldn't start a real business if their life depended on it. Hence the reliance on image consultants, lawyers, and as much media manipulation as possible.

They hate Republicans, of course, because the Stupid party has finally learned enough about those three things to hold their own against them. How dare they! Burn in hell, you who used my tactic as well or better than I did!
In reaction to Richwine Affair, all right-thinking people are quick to proclaim that they don’t believe in a genetic basis for IQ. They’re much less quick to explain – with any sort of precision – what they actually do believe in. At best, we’re treated to some hand-waving paired with the phrase “social construct.”.

Hate? Who said anything about that?

As to his destiny, remember what Christ said about knowing people by their fruit. His was rotten to the core.

His evil acts hurt thousands of people, mostly employees of Enron and AA who trusted their companies and ended up financially ruined and unemployed and certainly unable to have $200,000 birthday parties.

I fail to understand why so many people are apologists for evil when it involves profit and money.
Bush's buddy chose to follow Mammon and was unrepentant of his evil deeds until the end.

I am only sorry that he did not live long enough to rot in prison. Maybe then he could have finally found some remore and repentance but it's too late now.

If capital punishment could ever be justified (and it's not) this would have been a good candidate.

EDIT: I take that back. While it was made as a joke, I know a bunch of people will take it seriously and jump at my throat and don't feel like dealing with rabid wolves right now.

Christ didn't say anything about knowing people by their fruit. He did say something about knowing prophets by their fruit but unless Lay predicted a massive tsunami hitting the US or summoned flying saucers (but only in good weather), I fail to see what this has to do with him. Christ did, however, say "1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. " so you better hope you're not guilty of any creeping greed yourself.

I shouldn't be making any sense to you, because what I'm talking about pertains mostly to a type of sin you're blessedly free of. Go in peace.

They should bury him in a prison cemetary and take all of his "earnings" and distribute it to those robbed. Good riddance.
Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.
