One of my friends is from India and we've had discussions on arranged marriages in regards to this topic. I get the funny feeling that you don't understand how these arranged marriages work.

Unfortunately, some of the people caught out in this hack apparently live in countries where things like adultery have the death penalty. So these leaks could have pretty serious implications for a lot of people.

Also, interestingly, the country with the highest percent of female users of the site seems to be India. I wonder if that suggests quite a few women are unhappy with their arranged marriages and are looking for someone of their own choosing on the side. Unfortunately India is not exactly known for its respect for women's rights, so I suspect there may be pretty serious consequences for those women caught out by this.

I really cannot work up a whole lot of sympathy for those who were "outed" except for the fact that to have what is essentially a private issue is being aired in public. In that case I feel sorry for the spouses and family. Further, those doing so are breaking the law.

I mean if he had said, "I didn't set that account up, and I have no idea who did," then I would be more inclined to believe him, but to suggest that America's enemies are trying to discredit him? Seriously? First of all, who is Hunter Biden that America's enemies give a pair of fetid dingo's kidneys about him, and secondly, what was their plan, exactly? Set up an account in his name and then hope someone somehow stumbles across his profile and makes it public? It just doesn't sound plausible.

There were reports of people being falsely signed up on Ashley Madison. I think in most cases it happened a more plausible reason would have been personal revenge or pranking, but the fact that the IP resolves to Kansas suggests to me that we shouldn't rush to judgment. He would have had no reason to use an anonymizer because whoever did it was submitting his real name (which suggests not exactly trying to hide).
