So who will at least play the Left Behind demo or something?
In a weird way, I feel kind of obligated to. Left Behind is such a media franchise, and I feel like I should get some exposure to it. About half the people I know dislike Left Behindism, but I think I should get an idea first hand of what Left Behindism is to understand those who do believe it.
Besides, it'll probably make some good satire fodder...

Re: So who will at least play the Left Behind demo or something?
No internet in my room, so I can't for now.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Seriously folks, the LB books were not exactly high-cotton reading material. If I must read fiction (and I don't usually) I will re-read C.S. Lewis. LB stuff (books-movies-t-shirts-coffemugs-refrigerator magnets, etc.) is based of course on the dispen-sen-sational markeing scheme to turn their rapture message into millions of dollars being left behind from people's wallets.
Advocates like to (and I think rightly) say that LB has caused a new generation to at least check out Christianity. But it has also re-inforced what I think is an incorrect dispy eschatology, ecclesiology, and soteriology to a generation weaned on Scofield Bibles and Moody Bible studies.
I would pay good, hard-earned money to see Tim LaHaye Debate Hank Hanegraaff or W.L. Craig on the subject of the end-times. I would not want to be Left Behind for a momentous event like that!
Anyway, LB books are cheap fiction that lend further support to dispen-sen-sational eschatology IMHO. LB is all about the pre-trib rapture and seven-year great tribulation positions getting commercial air-time and making, of course, tons of $

A book by LaHaye was given as a gag gift from one of my instructors to a student in my class.
