Hare Krishna, Hare Jesus: Krishna Myth/Factual Details & How they Compare to Christ
This topic interests me:
Krishna was born of the Virgin Devaki ("Divine One")? O.K.?
Virgin Devaki ("Divine One")? Born of hairs from the head of Vishnu which that god placed in her womb? - "Krishna." Encyclopedia Mythica.
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/k/krishna.html
However, this is in no way similar to the virgin birth of Christ for three reasons:
1) Jesus' birth was prophesied a thousand years prior as attested to in the Old Testament, according to Isaiah 7:14. Because this was yet another prophecy waiting to be fulfilled, why would there be a necessity to duplicate/borrow from the mythological birth of Krishna?
2) Krishna was the EIGHTH incarnation of the god Vishnu?! ("Vishnu." Encyclopedia Mythica)
This stands in sharp contrast to the Christian narrative, where the birth of Jesus represents the only incarnation of God. This incarnation was not a routine/commonplace event either. To claim equality with God was a serious offense, as the Jews demonstrated [See John 8].
3) The use again of New Testament terms/themes - "born of a virgin" would serve to put a casual reader in the mind of a full blown nativity scene. A careful reading of the Krishna myth shows this is not the case.

Re: Hare Krishna, Hare Jesus: Krishna Myth/Factual Details &
I do not believe the comparisons to differentiate doctrines of religions as they have evolved over the centuries and millennia work well, because of burden of human language and interpretation. the main question is - Is God's revelation and relationship with humanity universal throughout human history or not?

Ok, how has Jesus birth narrative " evolved ? "
Give us an example of some early Gospel stories where we have Jesus being conceived normally in the narrative.

Re: Hare Krishna, Hare Jesus: Krishna Myth/Factual Details &
Both Jesus and Krishna are Divinely conceived. Biblically there are prophesies for more than one messiah.
We lack early texts for the gospels. What we have are later texts that show a patchwork without known authors. Religions evolve in the way Christianity is different from Judaism. and the OT shows the evolution of beliefs within the books..
Question remains unanswered. Is God's revelation and relationship with humanity universal throughout human history or not?Go with the flow the river knows.

Krishna is a myth, and there was never a real human man who was "divine" except for Jesus.

Re: Hare Krishna, Hare Jesus: Krishna Myth/Factual Details &
Understood as the religious claim of traditional Christianity, but in reality there is no objective evidence to claim this exclusive belief, and by the evidence both could easily considered myth. This essentially confirms the belief that God is selective and arbitrary through the vast history of humanity to reveal his message of salvation to only one people in one place in time leaving the rest of the world in the dark.

Jesus never claimed to be an incarnation of God the Father. He said what I do Is not of me but of He who sent me.

Most faiths tend to be exclusionist. That is, their way is the only way.
Not only that, but this is a debate site, in addition to being a forum. Render an opinion, and it tends to be respected, although often someone else will render their opinion. State something as fact, and someone will fact-check it.He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; that is why it is said, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD." Genesis 10:9

Re: Hare Krishna, Hare Jesus: Krishna Myth/Factual Details &
I see some respect to others in many of the topics and the opinions posted, but as alot of them go on, it seems they turn into attacks and subtle name calling. Sad and silly to me. I came to learn, which I maintain is one of the main reasons I am here. Not here to try and be forced or scoffed at to believe how someone else wants me to believe.
